Dynamic Electrowetting Control

CyclAFlor Clear enables electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) functionality – the movement of fluids via electrical stimulation. In its resting state (no electric field present), Clear maintains a highly hydrophobic surface, repelling water and polar liquids. When an electric field is applied, Clear’s surface energy increases and it transitions to a hydrophilic state, reducing the contact angle and allowing precise fluid control across the microfluidic chip.

Dielectric and Low-Friction Coating Performance

This material offers a low dielectric constant, low electrical conductivity, and low surface energy – an ideal low-friction coating for polymer microfluidics. Clear insulates effectively while maintaining surface responsiveness, making it suitable for integrated microfluidic systems, digital droplet microfluidics, and automated microfluidics assays.

Optical Transparency and Clarity

CyclAFlor Clear is transparent from deep UV to near IR. Its low refractive index reduces distortion, supporting precise and accurate optical measurements and visual inspection in microfluidic PCR, biochips, and diagnostic chips.
